The girls first dance recital was a major production.
The morning began with a trip to the home of Yoli’s friend Irieri. The girls put on their fancy, feathered red dresses, and then Irieri did their hair and makeup.
While they were preparing, Don Hector and Doña Lucila needed something to do. So I took them to the history museum where I tried to explain the 1904 World’s Fair in the best Spanish I could muster. There was lots to see and discuss.
Eventually, though, it was time to return to Irieri’s house and round up everyone for the trip to the Moolah Shrine which U Can Dance had rented for its recital.
