On March 3, Jadzia and her Viper Bots teammates joined the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri for a STEM expo at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.
What an exciting conclusion to our first year as a Girl Scouts robotics team!
At the expo, the girls showed off the robot they made in the fall. They also performed science demonstrations like melting styrofoam cups in acetone.
We witnessed the opening of the Senate and saw a bill passed. We were supposed to meet State Rep. Sharon Pace, but she missed our initial meeting. When we spotted her at the expo later, we ran over to introduce ourselves to her. She was so excited that she rushed the team to the House of Representatives. She asked permission to stop the session briefly and recognize our team on the floor of the House!
The Viper Bots accomplished a lot this year, including winning an award for their project at the First Lego League qualifier back in November. I’m glad for all the cool experiences they got to have. I hope they’ll remember these things the rest of their lives.
UPDATE (March 30, 2016): The Viper Bots got their photo printed in this month’s issue of the Ferguson Times!
