Goodbye to Vogt Elementary

Josie and Joseph stand across the street from Vogt Elementary after their final day of school in 2019.

Today was Josie and Joseph’s last day of school. Our family said goodbye to Vogt Elementary, which is closing.

It’s a sad thing to have your neighborhood school close. Ferguson-Florissant has decided to redistrict and realign its grade levels.

We are thankful for Dr. Washington and all the great teachers at Vogt who taught our kids over eight great years.

So many awesome concerts, first days, last days, field trips, robotics meetings, breakfasts with Santa, Grandparents days, Halloween parades, trips walking to school, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts meetings. In our family, we had spelling bee victories, met professional chess superstars, and so much more.

Lots of memories.

But the kids, staff, and parents really made this an epic final year. In robotics, one of our junior robotics teams was selected to participate in the FLL World Festival in Houston. Josie won awards for reading 4 million words during the school year. She also helped Vogt’s Scholar Bowl team win second place and she personally reached the championship round of The Judge.

We’ll never forget it.
