Ludi reaches the high school finish line

Ludi delivers her graduation speech.

Ludi finished her senior year at STEAM High so strong.

She worked hard to apply for lots of scholarships, and in late March, award notices started to roll in: the Missouri Conservation Agents Association, the Missouri Women Legislators, the North County Chamber of Commerce, STEM Signing Day, Ferguson-Florissant.

Yoli and I accompanied Ludi to Jefferson City where she was feted by the Missouri Women Legislators. We attended a reception at the governor’s mansion where she met First Lady Claudia Kehoe, Chief Justice Mary Russell, and Judge Ginger Gooch. Then we went to the House of Representatives where Ludi received her scholarship along with many other girls. The big surprise — the scholarships were 50% bigger than advertised!

At the STEM Signing Day at the St. Louis Science Center, she announced her college decision. She would attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis as a biology major.

Especially exciting (to me at least), Ludi was selected as the student speaker for her high school graduation ceremony. She worked very hard on her speech. When graduation day finally came, we could see the result: her speech was funny, powerful, and wonderfully delivered.

If you’d like to hear Ludi’s speech yourself, check out this video of highlights from the ceremony:

Somehow, amidst all this, she was also being profiled in magazines, starting a Substack about the environment, and creating a newsletter called “Sustain St. Louis“.

She truly is a wonder, and we’re excited to see what she achieves as she enters this exciting new phase of life.
